Service Description
The group ethos can be summed up simply “Train hard, Compete hard, Play hard”. ALL abilities are always welcome, minimum age is 14 (under 16s accompanied by a running adult) Whilst the group has athletes of all standards and backgrounds, they all have one aim when they come together and that is to work hard to improve their running. They are a very supportive group who encourage each other to work hard whatever their level and respect the achievements of their club mates. When they compete, the athletes want to perform to the best of their ability and do themselves justice. Equally the athletes like to have good fun whilst training and competing and there is always good banter and good craic during training sessions. For a number of years a group of experienced and enthusiastic runners had been meeting under the banner of DGFIT in the Ormskirk & Skelmersdale areas of Lancashire. Initially it was a small group of runners with experienced coach Dan Gilbody setting the sessions, but other runners quickly heard about the benefit of the sessions and asked to join the sessions. Before long there were up to forty people meeting to do the free, twice weekly sessions that included a variety of grass, road, trail and track sessions utilising the fantastic local facilities. Now under the banner of WeStryv, Dan provides sessions on Wednesday Evenings meeting at 5:45pm for a 6pm warmup. Sessions are followed up with an indoor Bootcamp fitness class at 7pm, limited places bookable online (from £5) Cant make it to the sessions, join in remotely via online programming. Utilising the worlds best training app Training Peaks to improve your run fitness with personalised training zones, trackable progress and so much more - on any major training device. Structure: Meeting at Westryv Studio (L39 2ES), runners will head out to complete a warm up jog with drills designed to improve run technique and biomechanics, a 30minute run pacing intervals workout to boost your fitness towards your next race, finishing up with a cooldown jog and stretches to help you recover. All sessions are coordinated by a qualified UKAthletics Coach who will be on hand to advise throughout. Sessions are free!!
